Clinical Director of Dialectical Services
Meet Carol Ann
"I love working individually with recovering addicts and betrayed family members, particularly those with painful co-occurring disorders that may have interfered with past treatment attempts. For instance, I lead a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) team to help clients who have found it difficult to complete other forms of treatment due to the interference of intense emotions, or impulsive, mood-dependent behavior."

I also noticed other clients who were rigidly perfectionistic, inflexible, and expressed little outward emotion. Even after becoming abstinent and completing disclosure, some had difficulty connecting emotionally with their partners, children, and friends. For these clients, I began providing an evidence-based therapy called Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT) which aims to increase client receptivity and openness, flexible control, and intimacy and social connectedness. Since 2018, we have had numerous cohorts of RO-DBT skills classes emerge more flexible than they entered! It is a joy to see these clients laugh at their own foibles, connect with those they love, relax — and just have fun!
