At Daring Ventures, we help individuals and couples heal from betrayal trauma, addiction, disconnection, and relational pain through Couple-Centered Recovery® — an approach grounded in attachment, neuroscience, emotional regulation, integrity, and relational healing.
Couple-Centered Recovery® is a relational model of healing developed by Dr. Jake Porter through years of clinical work, academic study, personal recovery, and work with couples navigating trauma, betrayal, addiction, and relational pain.
Rather than focusing only on symptom reduction or crisis management, our work centers on helping people build the capacity for emotional regulation, honesty, empathy, integrity, and meaningful connection.
We believe both trauma and healing are relational. Fear isolates. Connection transforms. And recovery is about becoming a different person — not performing a different behavior.

Daring Ventures Counseling, Coaching, and Consultation is the Houston-based clinic established by Dr. Jake in 2017, specializing in the treatment of addiction and trauma for individuals and couples. The exceptional multidisciplinary team of Daring Ventures is what makes this practice the premier place for healing from the devastating effects of trauma and addiction. Dr. Jake takes on a small number of executive and corporate clients for leadership development, business coaching, and consultation.
The licensed mental health therapists of Daring Ventures can only work within the State of Texas. However, Daring Ventures has exceptional, highly trained relational recovery coaches who are able to provide support to clients across state lines. We also now have the limited ability to offer therapy in Arizona, Florida, Montana, and Virginia and are currently working on licensure in Ohio and Tennessee.
Dr. Jake occasionally does limited work via video conference with individuals and couples in a coaching and consulting capacity. However, he will absolutely not engage in psychotherapy across state lines.
