Neurofeedback: Holistic Care for Peak Performance
“Everything we do, every thought we've ever had, is produced by the human brain. But exactly how it operates remains one of the biggest unsolved mysteries, and it seems the more we prove its secrets, the more surprises we find.” — Neil deGrasse Tyson
Our vision is to...
- Heal brains
- To help clients feel good and give them hope
- To help balance mind and body
- To help create wisdom and awareness
- So they can fulfill their life's passion and purpose
With state of the art equipment and cutting edge analysis and treatment, we collaborate together to make a difference.
Whether it is ADHD, learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, OCD, dementia, or other challenges, by working with the brain, there will be change.
Using cutting edge technology, we can help you discover the neurophysiological root of your challenges and create customized protocols to meet your precise needs.
What are QEEG and ERP?
Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG) gives us a window to the function of the brain.
Event Related Potentials (ERP) gives us a window to how the brain processes information.
The combined analysis offers great clarification and insight into diagnoses, as well as brain and body connection. This clarity allows for more effective treatments. Below we describe two such treatments: Neurofeedback and Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy.
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently. We observe the brain in action from moment to moment. We show that information back to the person. And we reward the brain for changing its own activity to more appropriate patterns. This is a gradual learning process. It applies to any aspect of brain function that we can measure.
Neurofeedback is also called EEG Biofeedback, because it is based on electrical brain activity, the electroencephalogram, or EEG. Neurofeedback is training in self-regulation. It is simply biofeedback applied to the brain directly. Self-regulation is a necessary part of good brain function. Self-regulation training allows the system (the central nervous system) to function better.
Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain dysregulation. These happen to be numerous. They include:
- the anxiety-depression spectrum,
- attention deficits,
- behavior disorders,
- various sleep disorders,
- headaches and migraines,
- PMS, and
- emotional disturbances.
Neurofeedback is also useful for organic brain conditions such as seizures, and autism spectrum disorder.
By using the EEG and QEEG, the following can be identified:
- medication indications/contraindications,
- areas of the brain that are over or under functioning,
- metabolic and sleep issues.
Non-medication treatment alternatives, before and after medication trials, and brain functioning reports can also be discussed as a part of the treatment.
If you have struggled to find stability in your life, to find the right medication or treatment, we would love to help you by looking directly at your brain functioning.
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (pEMF) has been around for decades. Its effects on organs and disease in the body has been studied by scientists around the world. Over 2,000 published clinical studies have demonstrated the benefit of pEMF on many a variety of conditions.
Laura Childers, MA, LPC, BCN, QEEG-D utilizes NeuroField, an FDA-approved ultra-low intensity, pulsed electromagnetic field (pEMF) device that works to replenish energy and reduce stress in the brain and body. NeuroField is purely electromagnetic and does not introduce direct current to the skin. The brain and body will mimics the pEMF fed into it and capillary blood flow increases. Whereas inflammation can limit the success of other types of biofeedback, pEMF can reduce inflammation and be given at fast speeds without generating heat that damages tissue. pEMF can be used to entrain the brain via operant conditioning or disentrain the brain via dehabituation.
NeuroField utilizes a normative database to bring about a more energetically balanced brain and body system. A system more energetically balanced is a system that functions more efficiently and effectively. NeuroField works to strengthen the brain/body connection and promote a healthy, balanced state.
NeuroField pEMF has been documented as an intervention for insomnia, Parkinson’s disease, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, conduct disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. It has been shown in clinical studies to be an effective intervention for many other conditions and symptoms. Follow-up with the subjects of the studies and the clinical population has suggested the treatment's effect are maintained over time.
